Clinton Township resident Steven Cole, 33, pled no contest to charges related to the shooting of his neighbor in April 2024.

Cole appeared for a final pre-trial conference on Oct. 23 before Judge Julie Gatti at the Macomb County Circuit Court. He pled no contest to assault with intent to murder; possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; and two counts of felony firearm.

Cole is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. before Gatti.

It is alleged that on April 25, 2024, Cole confronted his neighbor in the parking lot of the apartment building where he, his girlfriend and the victim lived.

Cole believed the neighbor was having an affair with his girlfriend and shot him two times in the thigh.

The victim recovered from his injuries.
