UPDATE: Harvard University shelter in place lifted after reported shooting

Students and faculty at Harvard are being asked to shelter in place after a shooting was reported in Cambridge on Friday.

A warning was posted on the university’s alert website reading that an “unidentified male on a bicycle just shot at another person on Sherman Street. The suspect is on a bicycle heading toward Garden Street. Please avoid the area and shelter in place.”

Garden Street is adjacent to Harvard Yard and the Cambridge Common.

The alert said the shooting happened near the Radcliffe Quad and that Cambridge Police found ballistic evidence. No known victims have been reported, the alert reads.
