At 86%, the graduation rate for South Dakota's class of 2025 was the highest in a decade.
That's up from 84% for the class of 2024, according to the state Department of Education's report card for the 2024-25 school year, released Oct. 24. In a news release , the department said the increase was driven by a five-percentage-point gain among Native American students, who had a graduation rate of 51%, the highest in five years.
There were improvements in specific subject areas, too. The share of students statewide who performed at their grade level in English language arts increased to 52%, the news release says. However, that figure remained at 44% when it came to math.
