SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)-- The Syracuse Police Department and Syracuse Department of Neighborhood and Business Development are warning businesses in the City of Syracuse about a scam involving fake zoning invoices.
The fake bills have been sent to multiple businesses across the city over the past couple of months. The notices tell businesses to pay for an approval fee, submission fee, environmental impact fee, and final review fee through a wire transfer.

A good way to determine that these invoices are fake is to know that the City of Syracuse will NEVER ask a business to wire transfer money for a zoning invoice.
