A 79-year-old man from Calgary has been charged with aggravated assault after a fight at a McDonald's parking lot in Crowfoot. The incident occurred on Tuesday, and the victim, who was hospitalized in critical condition, has since died.

Calgary police reported that the altercation took place around 2:15 p.m. outside the McDonald's located at 63 Crowfoot Way N.W. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with both men involved. Both declined medical assistance and did not wish to pursue further police involvement at that time. After ensuring the situation was under control, officers left the scene.

However, shortly after, emergency services were called back to the same location due to a report of a man in medical distress. This individual was one of the men from the earlier altercation. He was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition and later died on Thursday.

The police have not released the victim's name but confirmed that he and the suspect are known to each other. The suspect, identified as Chiu Man Yuen, was charged with one count of aggravated assault before the victim's death. His first court appearance is scheduled for Friday.

Authorities indicated that the charges against Yuen could be upgraded depending on the results of the victim's autopsy, which is also set for Friday. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. They can contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the P3 Tips app.
