MINNEAPOLIS — A temporary hub for unhoused people to access hygiene stations and resources was opened Friday in Minneapolis by the man in an ongoing dispute with the city over a temporary homeless encampment erected on his property.
The new hub, located on 28th Avenue South and Lake Street, was put in place by Hamoudi Sabri. Sabri was recently served with a restraining order forbidding unsheltered people from camping in a makeshift encampment built on his property in the same area.
A judge granted the restraining order after seven people were shot at the encampment late last month.
Following the decision, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey applauded the action, saying, “The judge’s decision to grant a TRO is the right call. Encampments are not safe — not for residents, neighbors, or surrou
