ATLANTA — A man accused of multiple sexual assaults from almost 40 years ago will serve eight life sentences plus 185 years.

According to investigations, 61-year-old Jeffrey Briney was involved in two incidents that occurred in March and October of 1986.

In March 1986, officers say four men forced their way into a Brookhaven apartment on Briarwood Road and held five college students at gunpoint, tying them up, and raping two young women before ransacking the apartment.

In the following October, two armed men forced their way into an apartment in the 3000 block of Buford Highway, and both assailants raped two women who lived there, tied them up, and stole valuables.
