MOUNT PLEASANT — Voters will choose between two candidates for mayor on Nov. 4 to lead one of the state’s largest municipalities .
Incumbent Will Haynie is seeking a third term as leader of Mount Pleasant. He’s being challenged by Curt Thomas, a former S.C. state trooper and political newcomer.
During a candidate forum hosted by the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 23, Haynie and Thomas discussed their platforms with a roomful of constituents at Christ Episcopal Church.
Thomas considers being new to the political arena his advantage, and positioned himself as a candidate for residents who are ready for a change.
“I represent those who've been here for a long time and are not fooled by what's going on here the last eight years,” Thomas said.
