COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A judge has set bond for the former executive director of the South Carolina Election Commission accused of multiple ethics violations.

Howard Knapp is charged with nine counts of ethics accountability violations and one count each of embezzlement of public funds and accessory after the fact of a felony.

A judge set a $75,000 personal recognizance bond for Knapp on the charges. That bond comes with general conditions that he can’t leave the state and can’t get rearrested while on bond.

Knapp’s former deputy, Margaret Paige Salonich, also appeared before a bond court judge on a charge of wiretapping.

The judge set a $25,000 personal recognizance bond with the same conditions.

Mugshots for Knapp and Salonich were not immediately available as of Friday afternoon.
