MUSKEGON, MI - Candidates running for elected office in the city of Muskegon faced off in a final debate before the Nov. 4 election.

The forum, for both mayoral and commissioner at-large candidates, was held Thursday, Oct. 23, at The Block in downtown Muskegon. It was moderated by attorney Brianna T. Scott and hosted by the Muskegon Young Black Professionals and WUVS 103.7 The Beat.

Both debates were live-streamed on M106-FM’s Facebook page .

The mayoral debate began at 6 p.m. between incumbent Mayor Ken Johnson and Bob Garretson, a financial planner. Johnson has been mayor for the last four years, and served two consecutive four-year terms on the city commission before that.
