WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - It’s not uncommon to see big crowds at Legends Field in Williston. But this crowd was a bit out of the ordinary.
On Wednesday, the field was filled with student athletes, reading to younger kids.
“It was a fun experience,” said Avy Ator, a junior student-athlete.
“I had quite the audience, so it was fun talking to little kids,” said Kyah Stundal, a senior student-athlete.
“Literacy Under The Lights” gave athletes a chance to read some of their favorite children’s books and spend time with new people.
“I think it meant a lot to them because it gets different ideas on what they can read and what they can look at,” said Taeson Hendrickson, a junior student-athlete.
These older students have a lot of responsibilities, not just because of their athletic ability.
