BOSSIER CITY, La. - Rain may be in the forecast, but it will not dampen plans to celebrate 11 years of serving others when Bossier Schools joins forces with the United Way for the 11th Annual Day of Service on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Nearly 40 teams, made up of students, staff and their families, have either been holding collection drives for charitable organizations or will be spending the morning lending a hand at nonprofit agencies throughout the area. Outdoor projects will be rescheduled, extending Day of Service into "Weeks of Service."
The Day of Service saved local nonprofits nearly $40,000 in labor costs last year, based on the average cost of a volunteer hour, and collected more than 3,900 essential items at donation drives. This year, in a show of support for military families durin
