Sea cadets from across the province are gathering at The Launch in Holyrood this weekend to learn about the Marine Institute and its activities, and participate in training excercises on land and on the water.
The cadets, ages 12 to 18, will focus on a variety of skills including seamanship, small vessel operation and navigational training.
Training officer Lieutenant Stephen Day Reed says younger cadets will participate in training at The Launch in Holyrood while the older cadets will attend the Marine Institute’s Offshore Safety and Survival Centre for a focus on emergency preparedness and responding to marine emergencies.
