LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A street vendor and grandmother has been reunited with her family after spending four months in federal detention.
Emma De Paz, from Guatemala, was detained by federal agents during a June raid outside the Home Depot in Hollywood as she was selling tamales.
"She was just working and training, and had a proper permit when she was basically ambushed by ICE in a raid, one of the first raids at the Home Depot," said immigration attorney Karla Navarrete.
The community quickly stepped in to help raise money for her attorney as she fights to stay in the country she has called home for more than two decades.
Navarrete described her as a "community leader" and "a person that has their own business, is an entrepreneur and that's really a volunteer in her community also."
