East Los Angeles -- Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating two shootings Thursday night in the City Terrace section of East L.A. that left one man dead and another man critically wounded.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded at approximately 8:20 p.m. Thursday to the 1100 block of N. Hazard Avenue near City Terrace Park regarding a call of a gunshot victim, said homicide Lt. Christopher Oakley.

When they arrived at the scene, deputies encountered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. They provided medical aid until Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the LASD.
