Chris Bowen’s Climate Change department has continued to withhold key briefs outlining its real intentions – as a former senator urged parliament to toughen up on government secrecy.

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has refused to release an 'incoming government brief' it prepared following the election, despite several requests from voters and within government to make it public.

The briefs contain detailed information to assist incoming ministers with their responsibilities and can often contain warnings and advice regarding potential issues that may hinder the implementation of government promises.

Mr Bowen’s two briefs have been subject to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request and more than one Senate Orders for the Production of Document
