LA CENTER — The 1997 La Center football ballcap worn Friday night by La Center High coach John Lambert has seen a lot of winning.
That included a milestone 200th career victory in Lambert’s long tenure as the Wildcats’ head coach — a 42-16 home win over Kalama.
As players soaked their coach with a water dump when the scoreboard hit zeros, the 54-year-old Lambert received congratulatory hugs from players and acknowledgement from the La Center Community Stadium fanbase.
Then, he reflected on what the achievement means to him in a career filled with special victories and big moments.
“It’s a reflection of the people I’ve had around me,” Lambert said. “I can’t do this on my own.”
