Democratic gubernatorial hopefuls in New Jersey and Virginia are banking on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and his rising national profile to help raise funds and build support heading into the final week of their campaigns.

Mr. Shapiro will appear alongside Rep. Mikie Sherril of New Jersey at campaign and fundraising events on Saturday, followed by a Sunday visit to Virginia to help boost the campaign of former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, a spokesman for Mr. Shapiro’s campaign team confirmed to the Post-Gazette.

The visits come on the heels of polling showing Mr. Shapiro maintaining high popularity and strong approval ratings in Pennsylvania, with particularly solid support among Democrats and independent voters, ahead of his widely expected re-election run.
