CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) - The Carthage Chamber of Commerce surprised one small business with their first cash mob.
A cash mob is an event where a group of people swarm a small business to boost their customer numbers. For Lou Lou’s Bargain Den in Carthage, it was a mob they were very happy to see.
“Businesses like this, we need little niches like this that will draw people to the community,” said Kelly Freeman, president of Carthage Chamber of Commerce.
The cash mob was started by the local chamber of commerce as a way to boost popularity of small businesses in the area. For Lou Lou’s owners Leah and Jeff Patrick, the surprise was well needed.
“He just said a couple minutes ago, ‘I wish this Thursday night was a little bit busier,’ and in they came,” Leah Patrick explained.
