NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (PIX11) -- A fraternity at Rutgers University has been closed down after a 19-year-old student was taken to a local hospital in critical condition in what officials believe was a hazing incident.
Gordy Heminger, President and CEO of Alpha Sigma Phi International Fraternity, confirmed to PIX11 News on Friday that the chapter is closed and that "all members involved, directly or indirectly, will be permanently expelled."
Officials say Rutgers Police responded to the fraternity at around 12:26 a.m. on Oct. 15 in response to a disconnected 911 call.
The 19-year-old student was found injured and unresponsive and taken to Robert Wood University Hospital.
