EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The NCAA issued a statement on eligibility in the wake of Tom Izzo’s comments on players with G-League experience being allowed to sign for college teams. In part, Izzo called the situation “ridiculous” and “embarrassing.”
UConn head coach Dan Hurley showed his support for Izzo, and coaches around the country have chimed in on the topic, prompting a response from the NCAA.
“More schools,” the statement reads, “are recruiting and enrolling individuals who have competed professionally - including many with experience in international leagues who may find college sports more appealing given the financial benefits now available.
