Mayor Drew Dilkens is exercising his powers under Ontario's Strong Mayors, Building Homes Act in connection with the City of Windsor's next budget — demanding that it involve no increase to municipal taxes.

At the same time, he's calling for continued funding of the city's Asset Management Plan and investment in infrastructure.

It's the 23rd time this year that Dilkens has used the so-called strong mayor powers granted by Doug Ford's Ontario government.

The deadline for the next City of Windsor budget to go before council isn't until Feb. 1, 2026. But in the coming weeks, Dilkens will be conducting his annual practice of holding one-on-one meetings with each of the city's 10 ward councillors.
