RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – It was 11 p.m. earlier this month when a Rio Rancho police officer saw an SUV blow through a red light. The driver then swerved along Highway 528. The officer pulled the car over and took a look in the back seat. He couldn't believe what he saw. Officer: "Is your friend back here okay?" Reyes: "Yeah." Officer: "But, roll down this window. Roll down this window. Hello. Holy crap"
Illegal immigrants were crammed into the back of the vehicle. They were from Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras. The officers were worried about their health and called an ambulance. Officer: "How many more we got back there? You got like 12 people in here. Come on, step on out. Step on out. This whole thing is stacked full of people."
