MANNINGTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — On Friday members of the community, including Mannington Main Street, Historic Gem Restorations, and architecture company the Mills Group, signed a declaration saying that they were partnering together to restore a theater known in Mannington as the Show Building.

The goal is to bring back the theater as a centerpiece of the community, offering a venue for entertainment, music and films.

For Johnna Starkey-Moore, whose family owns the building, the mission is personal as her mother, Susan Starkey, worked at the theater and wished to see it restored.

“She's the reason why we're here," Starkey-Moore said. "She passed away in 2022 when Covid come through, and, so I plan to be here, continue her legacy, make her dreams come true.”
