MERRIAM, Kan. -- City leaders are thanking a woman who helped save a man who wanted to take his own life. He was threatening to jump onto I-35 from the 75th Street overpass.
It was a normal day driving into work for Good Shepherd Catholic School Counselor Jessica Compton-Crocker when she saw a man who had climbed up the black chain link fence. The incident happened around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, September 10th.
"I knew time was of the essence, so I put my car in park, and I told my son to stay right there and not move, and I got out, and I just ran," Compton-Crocker said in an interview with FOX4 Friday.
Compton-Crocker grabbed the man's wrist and hand telling him that he was safe.
