WASHINGTON — Thousands of Neutrogena makeup remover towelettes distributed in four states are under recall because they may be contaminated with bacteria.
Kenvue Brands, LLC, the company that produces the wipes, issued a recall for Neutrogena Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes, according to an FDA enforcement report .
The recalled lot includes 1,312 cases in 50-count 25-pack wipes with lot number 1835U6325A. The recalled makeup wipes were distributed to Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
During an internal investigation, the company discovered that the recalled wipes tested positive for pluralibacter gergoviae , which can cause severe infections in people with weakened immune systems and chronic illnesses.
