What is Proposition 14?

Proposition 14 would amend the Texas Constitution to create the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT), dedicating $3 billion from the state's general fund over 10 years to combat Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other neurodegenerative diseases.

The measure has received bipartisan support in both the Texas House and Senate and was signed by Governor Greg Abbott on May 25; It's now awaiting voter approval.

Following CPRIT's Success

In 2007, Texas voters approved a similar constitutional amendment establishing the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
