SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — This week’s Teacher of the Week is Laura Elms, a teacher who has been working at Lake View High School for decades!

Elms, who turned 80 in September, teaches English and credit recovery classes at the high school. She has taught for over 50 years, spending decades teaching at Lake View High School.

Elms shared that she's always had a passion for teaching, even from a young age.

"Very long story short, when I was very little, I tried to teach my plastic horses how to read," Elms said. "It didn't work well, but I wanted to be a teacher even then!"

She said she was also driven to become a teacher by a poor experience her older brother had with an English teacher when he was in school, after which he dropped out. Now, she seeks to be a welcoming
