WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita high school gave students the opportunity to learn about medical field careers on Friday.

KU Medicine sent their med school students to Wichita North High on Friday morning. They taught the high school students about what careers are available in the medical field and what each role entails.

They brought a surgical robot, the Da Vinci Surgical Machine, so the high school students could see what robotic surgery looks like. The machine has four arms. Three of the arms are for holding instruments, and one of the arms is for holding a camera.

One student said, “It’s just amazing to get to experience this myself. I want to go into the surgery field, so being able to experience this hands-on is really amazing.”
