Police said a person has been arrested in connection to a fire that broke out on Kelowna’s Knox Mountain Friday.
The Kelowna Fire Department was notified of the blaze just before 3:30 p.m.
“It’s one fire that spread pretty aggressively given the fuels it was burning in,” said Assistant Fire Chief Jason Bedell.
Strong winds didn’t help, but crews managed to get the fire contained within an hour.
By 5 p.m., crews were still on-site mopping up the fire, which was near trails and easily accessible.
The cause of the fire is suspicious, said Bedell.
Mounties said in a statement Friday that a person has been arrested in relation to the fire and remained in custody.
“This is an ongoing investigation and no further information can be released at this time.”
