EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – On Nov. 4, Effingham County residents will see a proposal on their ballots to change liquor laws in Rincon that currently allow beer and wine sales but prohibit liquor sales within city limits.
The City of Springfield's citizens were faced with the same decision two years ago and voted to approve liquor sales. Now, three liquor stores are flourishing within Springfield's city limits.
The manager at Liquor Banquet in Springfield, Emily Green, said the city had a positive reaction to liquor sales being approved and the excitement has not slowed down.
"I think it was just like a sleepy town," said Green. "And so much is moving in, including the liquor stores, and it's just really boosted just the community here. You see so many people out and about."
