CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tenn. ( WYMT /WVLT) - Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol are investigating a crash where one Kentucky man was killed.

According to a preliminary report from THP, troopers responded to the crash at around 2:42 a.m. on Thursday on Fork Ridge Road in Good Lane.

Troopers said 48-year-old James Phillips was traveling south on Highway 132 when his car went off the road and hit a utility pole. The report said his car came to a rest off an embankment on its side.

Phillips died due to injuries sustained in the crash, THP said.

Troopers said Phillips was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
