HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A one-day expo focused on helping residents address Hawaii’s high cost of living took place Saturday at the Blaisdell Center.
The Priced Into Paradise expo aims to provide alternatives for residents who cannot afford traditional housing prices.
There will be demonstrations of affordable housing options, including the Plugin House made from 37 insulated panels that can be assembled in less than a day. Models range from 100 to nearly 400 square feet.
Seven of these will be part of a new phase at the homeless village Pu’uhonua O’ Waianae.
Honolulu City Council member Andria Tupola, co-organizer of the event, said the homes could help ease Hawaii’s housing crisis.
