Newnan pulls away after early test, routs Banneker 38-8
Newnan overcame an early deficit and dominated the final three quarters in a 38-8 home win over Banneker on Friday.
Christopher Jackson opened the scoring with a 31-yard run, but Banneker answered with a long drive and a two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead late in the first. It was the only time the Cougars trailed.
Newnan took control in the second quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run by Kari North and two defensive takeaways, including a fumble and an interception.
Brodie Campbell turned the turnover into a 19-yard touchdown pass to John Matthews for a 21-8 halftime lead.
The Cougars continued to pull away after the break with a 40-yard field goal by Quint Johnson and two fourth-quarter touchdown passes from Campbell to Jay
