Project Sail is one of the largest hyperscale data centers planned in the U.S. It will use 4.3 million square feet of space and draw more than 900 megawatts of energy per year.
Heavy industry refers to businesses that produce large industrial products, require large machinery and facilities, and use complex production processes. It is dominated by large corporations, as it requires significant investments.
Heavy industry sells to large purchasers such as businesses, industries and governments, as opposed to light industry, which sells products to consumers.
Project Sail is not a light industrial facility!
All data centers should be categorized as heavy industrial users due to their heavy use of resources and limited to land already zoned for commercial use.
