LEVANT -- In the town of Levant, Halloween came a week early.

Levant Fire & Rescue on Friday, October 24, hosted its annual Open House Trick or Treat Event. Folks of all ages on Friday night got to enjoy candy and games, all in the name of Halloween spirit.

According to Levant Fire Chief Eric Strout, the event was held in partnership with Levant PAWS and Treworgy Family Orchards.

"We want our people in our towns to know what we do," said Strout. "We're not just going out fighting fires. We'd rather see people in a safe, relaxing environment. We can build trust. We can build that relationship and a bond so when we do go to an emergency these are familiar faces they're seeing."

Arriving on Friday night as well was the departments brand new fire truck.
