IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Two men were charged in connection to a fight near the University of Iowa campus earlier this month.
On October 5, police responded to a report of a fight at 1:42 a.m. near the intersection of Madison Street and Jefferson Street in Iowa City.
Officers learned two victims had argued with several men at a downtown bar before being chased and tackled outside.
After further investigation, police charged 18-year-old Jace Nie, of Cedar Rapids, and 19-year-old Clifton West, of Marion, with participating in a riot and assault causing bodily injury.
Police say both defendants repeatedly punched and spit on the victims. The victims suffered several abrasions to their head, neck, and knee.
