PORTLAND, Ore. — Multnomah County’s library system is entering a new chapter, marked by sweeping renovations, new branches, and a focus on safety.

In an interview on KGW’s "Straight Talk," Library Director Annie Lewis said that projects funded through a 2020 voter-approved bond are on time and within budget, bringing modern, expanded facilities to neighborhoods across the county.

So far, nine libraries have been refreshed, with more openings coming next year — including a 95,000-square-foot East County Library in Gresham that Lewis described as “an absolutely gorgeous destination” featuring creative spaces, a rooftop terrace, and an auditorium for community events.
