GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — Gilbert Public Schools informed parents and families on Friday night that it may have to close down a school and make other changes for the next school year.

In an email to parents, officials said it’s looking at possibly closing Pioneer Elementary School , which has been open since 1984.

That would mean expanding the attendance for the following elementary schools:

Carol Rae Ranch

Val Vista Lakes

Harris

The district would also slightly change the attendance zones from Greenfield Junior High to Mesquite Junior High.

Four neighborhood community meetings will be held to address the changes, give more details and allow attendees to ask questions and raise concerns.

The dates for the communities are:

Monday, Nov. 17, @ 6 p.m. at Pioneer Elementary

Wednesda
