BAY CITY, MI – Andy Robbins could have blamed it on the smoke that got in his eyes.
But the Bay City Western senior isn’t ashamed to admit this team, this game and a night like this gets him misty-eyed.
One day after Western’s traditional team bonfire – where the seniors speak glowingly about the bonds of football – the Warriors played with an inferno of their own for a jaw-dropping 56-6 victory over Bay City Central.
“We each talked about what football means to us… I was almost tearing up,” Robbins said. “I’ve grown up with all these guys and we have a special bond. It really is a brotherhood, and this team means a lot to all of us.”
The Warriors played like they were on a mission in the Saginaw Valley League North finale – and it was mission accomplished. Needing a win for a chance
