UKHSA issues serious 'single flake' paint alert with small children in danger View Image
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a warning over a potentially deadly element found in many UK homes - with small children particularly at risk. The public health body - which is responsible for environmental hazards, among other things - has issued the warning via social media.
It stated that the dangers of lead poisoning from paint remain significant, with a 'single flake' being 'potentially harmful to a small child'. Lead paint was common before the 1970s and although lead paint has not been used after 1992, prior to this UK paint may have contained up to 50 per cent lead by weight .
