WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Five people were hospitalized after a shooting broke out near Howard University Friday night, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)
Police said officers responded to sounds of gunfire at 8:23 p.m. in the 600 block of Howard Place NW.
Officers arrived to find three men, one woman, and a 13-year-old boy suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, and they were transported to the hospital by DC Fire and EMS.
Police said none of the victims were Howard University students, but one victim was a student of Morgan State University, which the school plays against in a football game on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Officers explained that two people were taken into custody, and three weapons were recovered from the scene.
