Elkhart Rotary Club

ELKHART, Ind.-- Today, the Rotary Club of Elkhart hosted a "Pints for Polio" event at the Sports Time Family Pub & Grill.

Aiming to raise $1000, funds are used to help children from other countries receive the Polio vaccine.

With today being World Polio Day, 15% of funds raised from this community event went towards the International Rotary Club's Polio Eradication Fund to help fund vaccines for children overseas.

" We're still working hard to eradicate it [polio], and we must remember the disease is only a flight away." Terri Rickel, District Governor Elect of Rotary Elkhart, tells ABC57. "So if someone has that, and they fly into a country that does not have it, the disease can spread fairly quickly, so our goal is to eradicate it"
