ALEXANDRIA, Ky. — Jayden Augsback looks like a typical high schooler. He’s a 3.6 GPA student at Campbell County High School and sharp shooting guard for the successful Camels basketball team, but his story is different. He has ocular melanoma, a tumor in his right eye.
It was discovered when a routine eye exam in 7th grade noticed something that wasn’t normal. Since he had no symptoms, his mother thought it was a freckle, but a biopsy revealed it was a tumor.
Augsback said, “It was a shock. I was definitely scared. But my parents helped me a lot with that, just calming me down and telling me I will get through whatever happens. I’ll be fine.”
