A chant began from the sellout crowd of 44,353, difficult to make out at first, but soon enough the fans were in unison.

“We Don’t Need You! We Don’t Need You!”

Jays fans were symbolically thumbing their collective nose at the super-duper star, likely the greatest baseball player who has ever lived, the one who spurned their team two winters ago despite the effort to sign him to a billion-dollar (Canadian) contract.
