High street shoppers are bracing for a wave of store closures in the coming weeks, sparking concerns for beleaguered town centres.

Big-name brands are shuttering hundreds of stores nationwide, with many launching massive closing-down sales.

This follows a year that has seen beloved names fall into administration or be forced to close shops.

Poundland, New Look, Sports Direct and The Original Factory Shop are among the businesses drawing the blinds this month.

Here's what we know about the closures so far....

Poundland began its restructuring process with 800 stores but will soon have between 650 and 700 left.

Many of these shops have already closed, but on 14 November, its Sidcup branch will join the list.
