In a rare and heartening gesture of cross-border cooperation, firefighters from Myanmar crossed into Indian territory on Saturday to assist in controlling a massive blaze that swept through the border town of Moreh in Manipur.

The fire, which broke out around 11 AM near Border Pillar No. 79 in Ward No. 5 (Muslim Basti), quickly spread to adjoining houses, engulfing several structures in flames. Local residents, along with personnel from the Manipur Fire Service, Police, Commandos, and Assam Rifles, rushed to the spot to contain the inferno.
