HONOLULU (Island News) — The legal battle over Kamehameha Schools’ admissions policy continues — but today, one of its biggest rivals put competition aside to show support.
At Saint Louis School, students and faculty gathered for a vigil in solidarity with their brothers, sisters, and cousins at Kamehameha Schools. The event comes as Kamehameha faces a lawsuit from “Students for Fair Admission,” which claims its Native Hawaiian preference policy is discriminatory and illegal.
Leaders at Saint Louis said about 60% of their students are of Hawaiian ancestry, many of whom were able to attend thanks to Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop’s vision to uplift and educate the keiki of Hawaiʻi.
