GATES MILLS, Ohio -- What happens when a young New York couple, Gabe and Olivia, move into a Chicago apartment only to be surprised on moving day by a visit from his parents, then her parents?
“Hilarity ensues,” answers John Hickman, who is directing the play whose plot is described in the above question. That play is “Things My Mother Taught Me,” and it will be performed weekends Nov. 7-15 by the Gates Mills Players at the Gates Mills Community House, 1460 Chagrin River Road.
“It’s a family comedy, a romantic comedy,” Hickman said. “It sometimes has a sitcom-y feel. You feel like you’re watching your favorite TV show. Part of my vision for the show is you feel right at home with the characters like they’re your own family members.”
