Despite repeated appeals and warnings attacks on on-duty doctors in different parts of the state by politically backed anti-social elements have been continuing . In the latest such attack in Chebri area of Khowai subdivision a formal complaint has been filed by an assaulted doctor but no action has yet been taken by police. This has sparked deep resentment in the community of medicos in the state.

Sources from Khowai said that members of a family from Purba Ramchandra Ghat area had come to the Chebri primary health centre yesterday in the evening with a sick baby for treatment. At that time Dr Ranjit Debbarma was on duty in the primary health centre.
